Preparation

  • Beat one pound of butter to a cream

  • Add one pound of sugar, and beat both together until they become white

  • Then add two eggs, and beat for some time, and repeat, until you have added twelve eggs

  • Add one and three quarters pounds of sifted flour

  • Mix in a half a pound of orange peel finely chopped, half a pound of blanched and chopped sweet almonds

  • Then mix, but stir as little as possible.

  • Have a hoop (cake pan) greased and papered

  • Pour in the cake, smooth with a knife, and scatter a few caraways on the top

  • Bake two hours and a half in a moderate oven

  • 1 3/4 lbs. Sifted Flour

  • 1/2 lb. Orange Peel

  • 1/2 lb. Sweet Blanched Almonds

  • Caraway Seeds
